Meet Our New Executive Director, Lacy Stroessner!
We’re excited to announce the hiring of Carry the Future’s new Executive Director, Lacy Stroessner. A Carry the Future staff member since 2016, Lacy is a passionate advocate for refugee families and has over 16 years of experience working in refugee assistance and humanitarian organizations.
Most recently, Lacy served as our Chief Communications Officer, where she elevated Carry the Future’s mission with new and existing supporters and volunteers through our website, blog, social media, and merchandise. Throughout her time with Carry the Future, she has also done extensive field work on the ground in Greece, Jordan, and at the US/Mexico border.
Lacy is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and a former educator and college professor. She lives in Columbia, Missouri with her partner Phil and their three daughters—who are future world changers, of course!
Lacy shared her excitement about taking on this role:
I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity. I’m so excited to lead and work alongside some of the best folks I’ve come to know across the globe. I fervently believe that when we work together we can make waves. Every single day I wake up and remind myself of all the families I’ve met along the way—the refugees who have fled and faced unspeakable trauma. The children who remind me of my own, deserving of safety, happiness, and home. Together we are going to continue this important work and do right by these families with the privileges and blessings we have been given.
Lacy leads with compassion and collaboration, and we’re grateful for her continued dedication to Carry the Future. Thank you, Lacy! We can’t wait to see where you take us.
